Celebration Bowl 2018

Game Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
This will be the third trip to the Celebration Bowl in the last four years for North Carolina A&T. The Aggies are 2-0, with wins over Grambling State in 2017 and Alcorn State, in the first-ever Celebration Bowl. North Carolina A&T boasts a couple of First Team FCS All-Americans on both sides of the ball. Senior offensive lineman Micah Shaw and junior Darryl Johnson on the defense.
While it might not be the deciding factor in the Celebration Bowl, North Carolina A&T is going to play in the game without backup quarter Kylil Carter. Carter, a redshirt junior, broke his leg in a car accident sometime around Thanksgiving.
The Braves rank No. 8 in the FCS in rushing, averaging 282 yards per game. De’Shawn Waller leads Alcorn in that category with 1,084 yards and a SWAC-best 12 touchdowns. Quarterback Noah Johnson has rushed for 960 yards on 7.4 yards per attempt.
The Braves’ defense led the FCS in compiling sacks with 51 as a group during the regular season. Alcorn State captured its fifth consecutive SWAC Eastern Division Championship this past season. It is the longest such divisional winning streak in conference history since the SWAC went to the East-West format in 1999.
The Celebration Bowl is the only bowl game that pits two non-FBS opponents against each other. Teams from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the FCS conferences get to showcase their talents.
